The papers relate to the most important issues facing the Department, and mainly concern such things as administration, regulation, commodity promotion, Michigan State Fair, Upper Peninsula State Fair, soil conservation, consumer protection, food purity, pest control and other subjects.

The Upper Peninsula State Fair was established in Escanaba by Public Act 89 of 1927 for the purpose of "... exploiting and encouragement of improved methods in agriculture and industrial pursuits ..."
